We've been going on and on about all the coming changes to the new Volvo lineup on our blog, and guess what? Today is no different. This time, the automaker has revealed and announced its plans the innovative new engines expected to power the models in our Summit, NJ showroom for the future.

Details about the two engines based on the Drive-E philosophy have been released, and they are certainly encouraging. Worldwide, they'll be available in gas and diesel, but the United States will see the gas-powered ones only, for now. Also, upon their initial release, the Drive-E engines will be found on front-wheel drive models until the transition is complete.

As for the specs? Well, there are two levels: the T5 and T6. On the T5, there's a turbocharged 240-horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque output, while the T6 steps up to 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, with both operating on eight-speed automatic transmissions. Volvo states that they are between 13 and 26 percent more efficient than current engine options, nearly 100 pounds lighter, and smaller. So, we get a combination of power, and efficiency, without giving up too much.

The new Drive-E engines will be joined by Volvo's forthcoming hybrid drive system, which also has us excited at Smythe Volvo.

To learn more, stop in and see us during regular business hours. We'd be happy to highlight all the options like the XC60 and S80 with you, answer any questions you might have, and arrange test drives.
