As consumer demand for hybrid and electric vehicles continues to climb both nationally and here locally near Smythe Volvo in Summit, NJ,  we are happy that our Volvo manufacturer has responded with innovative model likes the all-new, all-electric Volvo C30 model, which can charge its powerful battery fully in under three hours.

As is everything Volvo produces, the manufacturer describes the new charging system as safe, effective, and comfortable to use. The system works by linking induction coils located on the vehicle and its charging platform, which work together to produce electromagnetic waves to produce electricity.

To create the system, Volvo engineers combined forces with Siemens to create the efficient and affordable to own electric-drive components with the hope that what they have produced may eventually result in specific standards surrounding vehicle charging stations.

Vice President of Electric Propulsion Systems for the Volvo Car Group, Lennart Stegland, had this to say about the innovative new system; "Inductive charging has great potential. Cordless technology is a comfortable and effective way to conveniently transfer energy. The study also indicates that it is safe. There is not yet any common standard for inductive charging. We will continue our research and evaluate the feasibility of the technology in our hybrid and electric car projects."1
