2017 Volvo S90 Lease
What’s the next Volvo lease you’re thinking about? Is it the XC90? Or, maybe it’s one of their luxury wagons? While Volvo is known for making legendary crossover SUVs and wagons, they make great luxury sedans as well. It’s the 2017 S90 in particular that I’m thinking of, and it’s an all-new midsize luxury sedan offered by Volvo. Instead of giving their S80 a much needed refresh, Volvo decided to scrap that sedan and replace it with this new one for 2017. Just looking at its sleek coupe-like shape, bold front-end, and stylish LED headlights truly gives you a sense of what’s in store: an upscale luxury experience.
With turbocharged technology featured in the engine, an interior that’s just as stylish and luxurious as the design, and lots of safety features (of course!), the 2017 Volvo S90 is a sedan that will be sitting at the front of the pack.
First and Foremost — Leasing Luxury Saves you Money
Before we take a closer look at the three primary reasons why you should lease the S90, there is a reason you should lease luxury models — or non-luxury models — in general. In a nutshell, it saves you money. Not only that, it provides you a much more hassle-free, less-stressful driving experience.
When you buy a new car, it depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot. After a year, it will lose 20% of its value. After that, it continues to lose value until you sell it for much less than you originally bought it for, or until its value on paper is zero. What’s the best way to avoid this? By leasing, of course. If you get a four-year lease term for a 2017 S90 (and adhere to the lease terms), you’ll be able to trade it in hassle-free at the end of those four years for a brand new luxury-model. This means that you don’t have to worry about losing money by making car payments for a car that perpetually loses value — because, you’re getting a new one in just four years.
On top of that, what it costs per month to lease it typically a lot lower than what it costs to pay off a car loan each month. Unless you need to buy extra miles, you’ll be saving money on a monthly basis as well. Also, you’ll most likely always fall under the new-car warranty, which inevitably saves you money on warranty-covered repairs that might pop up.
If you don’t think leasing a Volvo could get any better, wait until you see what you’re getting for your money with the 2017 S90.
Turbocharged and Ready to Roll
There is only one engine option for the 2017 S90 — and that’s okay. Because, this engine is turbocharged and ready to roll! It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that’s available in a couple of power grades. Those power grades – the T5 and T6 – are coincidentally the trim levels for the S90.
The engine on the T5 trim produces 250 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, and it’s paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. No stick-shift here, that just adds an unnecessary level of effort to a luxury vehicle. EPA-estimated fuel economy stands at 23 mpg city and 34 mpg highway (27 mpg combined), for the front-wheel drive T5.
The T6 trim has that same 2.0-liter engine with turbocharged technology, but also gets a supercharger thrown on. This makes it a twin-charged engine that generates 316 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, and also pairs with an eight-speed automatic. Because of the T6 being an all-wheel drive model, the EPA-estimated fuel economy drops slightly — down to 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway (25 mpg combined). For gleaning the benefits of supercharging and all-wheel drive, that almost negligent drop in fuel-efficiency is entirely worth it.
With two trims that share the same engine, the S90 is able to — surprisingly — provide a decent amount of versatility. Getting more power without sacrificing that much fuel economy, and having the option for AWD if you need it for winter driving isn’t something all sedans are able to offer, which makes the S90 a smart choice for its engine versatility alone.
Exceptional Interior
But, it’s a luxury model. So, thankfully, engine versatility isn’t the only thing the S90 has going for it.
For an unmatched luxury experience in the sedan world, you’ll want to choose the S90. On the inside, you’ll find a minimalist approach to luxury, only garnished with the necessities. That way, those necessities can be pinpointed by Volvo, and greatly enhanced. With wood inlays, along with chrome and metal accents running throughout the entirety of the cabin, you’ll feel like you’re sitting in a five-star Scandinavian hotel — not a car.
In order to aid with this decadent facade, you’ll also be privy to some of the most comfortable and ergonomic seats in the luxury sedan market. With embracing sides and high-rise bolsters complemented by Nappa-leather upholstery, it might take you a minute to actually start the car. Since you’ll be lost in the bliss of the sense-engaging cabin in its entirety.
It’s not just comfort that makes the 2017 S90 cabin luxurious, but also the technology. With a large tablet-style touchscreen that controls navigation, phone, climate, and audio functions, the S90 has gotten rid of most of the buttons found on the S80 predecessor. Not only does this help with functionality, but it also aids in progressing to that more minimalist nature.
A Bowers & Wilkins sound system provides your ears with that same upscale level of luxury that all your other senses enjoy. It’s a 19-speaker system, and even the looks of it complements the car nicely. You’ll truly feel like a you’re in a concert hall when cranking your tunes, especially since part of the subwoofer is attached to the frame — which will create a slight vibration when the bass hits.
Lots Of Safety Features
Finally, the S90 has an extensive list of safety features to provide you peace of mind, which is also a big part of the luxury car experience. Then again, it is a Volvo — so safety of the highest caliber should be expected.
Collision mitigation, pedestrian/cyclist/large animal detection, lane departure warning, road sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, drowsy driver alert, an OnCall telematics system (which is able to remotely start or unlock the S90 and alert authorities of a collision), and a system that helps you avoid running off the road — and another one that mitigates damage if you do — the S90 is armed with the latest and greatest safety features offered by Volvo. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional.
It even has Pilot Assist, which is an all-in-one feature that includes semi-autonomous steering, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. This means the S90 is able to drive itself through traffic jams, or even on the highway. All you have to do is touch the steering wheel at regular intervals.
Is it really surprising that Volvo’s semi-autonomous driving technology made an appearance on the 2017 S90? It helps take the hassle out of your daily commute, which is something Volvo excels at with its luxury models. Combine the safety with the exceptional interior and peppy, turbocharged performance — and I can’t see any reason why you wouldn’t want to lease the new S90.
